After the already extremely brilliant debut album "We Have Arrived" the second album of Dark Angel, "Darkness Descends", struck the scene in 1986 by the most brutal force. The new version of "Merciless Death" (in the original on the debut) was played in here in almost double speed.

Dark Angel was a thrash metal band from Los Angeles. Their over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with lots of tempo changes, lyrics and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine" and the motto "too fast, my ass". Drummer Gene Hoglan is considered to be among the best underground metal drummers in the world. This track appears on "Darkness Descends", also considered as part of best albums of 1986, along with Slayer´s "Reign in Blood" and Kreator´s "Pleasure to Kill".
