462 - Trouble Pray For The Dead 1985

Trouble debuted their brand of strong Sabbath influenced Metal with Psalm 9 just over a year previous to this release and The Skull would continue their quest. The release was darker and more brooding than the first album and the adopted heavy undertones of Black Sabbath worked well for a band when no one else was doing this kind of sound. They also fully utilized the contributions of a twin-lead guitar attack and this allowed the recording to surpass its predecessor tenfold. Eric Wagner’s Catholic upbringing would lead him to this lyrical path as opposed to being just another group who sang songs about Satan and his minions. The prominence of these themes is showcased on tracks such as this uncomfortable “Pray For The Dead”.

214 -Trouble Run to the Light 1987

"Run to the Light" sounds slightly less heavy and intricate than its predecessors, which makes it a bit easier to get into the songs. Trouble work with fascinating rhythm/tempo changes, which might make the mainstream Metaller shake his head, but could be interesting for Rush fans of their "Moving Pictures" and "2112" era, for example. But also Iron Maiden fanatics should listen to them because of the guitar harmonies. Anyway, this band is really original as they are influenced by different genres.

138 - Trouble Memory's Garden 1991

At a time when heavy metal was moving forward faster than ever, thanks to the advent and growing popularity of thrash metal, Chicago's Trouble embodied a nostalgic throwback to the genre's old-school, '70s values, and specifically a preference for the deliberate, slow-creeping style of the genre's founding fathers, Black Sabbath, which came to be known as doom metal. "Manic Frustration" introduced more accessible elements of psychedelia into some of Trouble's most energetic performances ever, certainly seemed capable of elevating the long-suffering band to new heights. Notice the staggering majesty of "Memory's Garden" (all highlights of Trouble's career), where singer Eric Wagner's mournful bray spins a tale of loss, faith, and hope of simply chilling proportions. Sadly, none of these were capable of stopping "Manic Frustration"'s title from ringing horribly prophetic after its release, when Trouble once again faced the mixed blessings of widespread critical acclaim but no significant album sales beyond the underground heavy metal faithful.

63 - Trouble Psalm 9 1984

The debut from Chicago-based Christian Metal band, Trouble, may have been an easy find, but since then, 1984’s Psalm 9 has become an out-of-print classic sought after by any Heavy Metal collector willing to drop the cash. Trouble's 1984 debut album Psalm 9 is on of the best Doom Metal albums ever. From start to finish, the album brings nothing but Biblical wrath embedded in guitar riffs stolen straight from the vault of Tony Iommi.
