Nevermore started in the beginning of the 1990s, when the band Sanctuary was pressured by its recording label to change its musical style, switching from heavy metal to grunge, which was obtaining mainstream success at the time due to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Two members of the band—vocalist Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard—didn't agree with the change, and thus proceeded to create a project of their own: Nevermore. The band are only a few years old but have many fans devoted to them. With their seventh and newest installment to their discography “This Godless Endeavor”, Nevermore took themselves higher. “Born” starts off with pure brutality and melody all punched into one. The drums are fast and the double bass is just pounding its way into your ears every second of the song. Lead singer Warrel Dane goes from growls to clean in a matter of seconds and it all sounds so perfectly put together. The guitar work is phenomenal with fast alternative picking and heavy crunchy riffs. Not to mention the crazy guitar solo.
