Bon Jovi is a hard rock band originating from Sayreville, New Jersey. Fronted by lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi, the group originally achieved large-scale success in the 1980s. The band has continued its success as one of the world's most successful rock acts throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Originally released on the 1988 album New Jersey, "I'll Be There For You" became the band's third single from the album when it was released as a single in 1989. As the band (and hard rock music) was at its peak popularity at this time, the song quickly climbed to the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has remained as one of Bon Jovi's signature songs and a classic in the power ballad genre. They borrowed the tune and rhythm from The Beatles song "Don't Let Me Down."
