542 - UFO A Fool for Love 1983

The eleventh studio LP from the high flyers was cut during a period of inner turmoil. Bassist Pete Way had left the group following the Mechanix tour, to join Eddie Clarke with the Fastway project. With Way no longer teamed with vocalist Phil Mogg, keyboardist/guitarist Neil Carter formed a writing alliance with the UFO singer. Carter had a hand in penning nine of the ten tracks that comprise Macking Contact. In addition, Carter and guitarist Paul "Tonka" Chapman handled all of the bass work during the recording sessions in late '82, while American bassist Billy Sheehan was hired for the abbreviated Making Contact tour. The Thin Lizzy-tinted "A Fool for Love", with the magic keyboards arrangement during the Paul Chapman's guitar solo, outstands.
