646 - Fifth Angel In the Fallout 1986
Excited by the success of neighboring metal upstarts Queensrÿche, vocalist Ted Pilot, guitarist James Byrd, and drummer Ken Mary formed Fifth Angel in Bellevue, Washington, in 1984. Drafting second guitarist Ed Archer and bassist John Macko, they eventually signed to the Shrapnel label and released an eponymous debut in 1986. Fifth Angel took the American power metal sound and injected it with plenty of melody, toning down the fist-raising aggression in favor of a more accessible approach. The opener of the album is the metal anthem "In The Fallout".
