664 - Rolling Stones Angie 1973

In November 1972, the Rolling Stones began sessions in Kingston, Jamaica for their follow-up to Exile, "Goats Head Soup". The album spawned the worldwide hit "Angie
This is a rare ballad for the band. Most of their material at the time was hard and aggressive. In the US, this was the only ballad that hit #1 for The Stones. Jaggercommented: "People began to say that song was written about David Bowie's wife but the truth is that Keith wrote the title. He said, "Angie". And I think it was to do with his daughter. She's called Angela. And then I just wrote the rest of it".
