717 - Hanoi Rocks Tragedy 1981

Hanoi Rocks was formed in Helsinki in 1979. Armed with an endless barrage of catchy hooks and rock solid riffs (not too mention an endless supply of lipstick and hairspray), Hanoi Rocks songs capture the glamour, the sleaze, the sex, drugs and rock and roll that they lived and played. using the template of blues-based hard rock and adding liberal doses of punk, pop, and some reggae. Hanoi Rocks fans are legendary for their rabid devotion and the album, "Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks" was the starting point, beginning with the quick pace of "Tragedy". Real tragedy struck in 1984: Razzle, the drummer of the band, was killed in a car accident (the driver was Vince Neil, singer with the band Mötley Crüe). Although replaced by Terry Chimes, drummer on The Clash's first album, and René Berg from the Idle Flowers, the band never recovered.
