Saxon began with a lineup formed by Peter "Biff" Byford on vocals, Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver on guitars, Steve "Dobby" Dawson on bass and drummer David Ward.
When Pete Gill signed up, and by the time of their second release "Wheels Of Steel" they were regarded as one the leaders of the fledgling NWOBHM movement.
The album kicked straight into fifth gear with one of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal's signature anthems, "Motorcycle Man".
