1409 – Ramones Commando 1977

"Leave Home" is a fairly appropriate title for the Ramones' second full-length. Their first album, "Ramones", established the signature punk sound, but "Leave Home" improved on it. The production is slightly better, a smooth edge added to each of the songs. Though the band wrote the material for the first two albums before either were recorded, the songs here are more melodic, with the pop sensibilities bubbling from almost every song. Dee Dee’s lyrics to “Commando” are hilarious (“Third rule is: Don’t talk to commies / Fourth rule is: eat kosher salamis”), making fun of the military.
