1420 - Mike Oldfield Moonlight Shadow 1983

"Moonlight Shadow" is a song written and performed by English multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield, released as a single in May 1983, and included in the album, Crises, of the same year. The vocals were performed by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly, who had joined Mike Oldfield in 1980. It is Oldfield's most successful single to date. Widely regarded to be a tribute to the recently murdered John Lennon, "Moonlight Shadow" was described by Oldfield himself as having been inspired by the Tony Curtis movie Houdini. Either way, it's a truly delightful song, bolstered by one of Reilly's most magical vocal performances.
