1685 - FM That Girl 1986

An AOR/melodic rock masterclass, featuring soaring vocals, infectious keyboard hooks, and a driving rhythm. Released as the opening track on their 1986 debut album Indiscreet. Lead singer Steve Overland delivers a gorgeous vocal performance that defines the classic melodic rock sound.Legacy. Written by early members Merv Goldsworthy, Pete Jupp, and Andy Barnett, the track secured the band's initial record deal and became a staple opener for their live sets.

   

1482 - FM Tough it Out 1989

FM was a British band with their eyes set firmly on the American market, playing music equal to masters of the craft such as Foreigner, Journey and Survivor. That they had not earned a significant sales foothold was shocking but it only fuelled their resolve to come back out swinging with their sophomore album, the stoically titled, 'Tough It Out'. Mixed by Nigel Green (Def Leppard), the album contains eleven stunning slices of melodic AOR, including such crowd pleasers as the title track.

1467 - FM Someday 1989

First mooted as a breakaway project in 1984 by then Samson rhythm section Pete Jupp and Merv Goldsworthy, the band that would eventually become FM didn’t really begin to take proper shape until the pair hooked up with brothers Steve and Chris Overland (formerly of the much underrated Wildfire), and self confessed sci-fi anorak Philip ‘Didge Digital’ Manchester. Tracks like ‘Someday (You’ll Come Running)’ were still way ahead of most of the stuff that was coming out of the UK at the time.

714 - FM The Dream that Died 1989

UK melodic rock sound in AOR band FM's 2nd album "Tough It Out". A band on the scene together with Magnum who had a good stuff to offer. Fronted by the charismatic Overland brothers, their sound was the closest a UK band came to the sounds of Journey, Survivor, Night Ranger etc, although their own influences included everything from Split Enz through Zeppelin to blues and soul.
