641 - Whitesnake Slide It In 1984

Following up the splendid "Saints & Sinners" album was no easy task, but 1984's "Slide It In" turned out to be an even greater triumph for David Coverdale's Whitesnake. Coverdale fired most of the band soon after the album's release, replacing them with younger, prettier faces with which to better conquer America.

447 - Whitesnake Fool for Your Lovin' 1980

David Coverdale and company were growing increasingly more consistent and self-assured with each record, and this "Ready An' Willing"'s first half shows great progress over the previous year's hit-and-miss "Lovehunter". Opener "Fool for Your Lovin'" was their best single yet, as well as their highest charting; with its clever combination of hit-savvy chorus and authentic bluesy resignation, it set the template for subsequent triumphs.

273 - Whitesnake Crying in the Rain 1982

"Saints & Sinners" is a 1982 album by the British rock band Whitesnake. It is the sixth studio release from the band. David Coverdale also reaches new heights with the astounding heavy blues of "Crying in the Rain" (a lyrical relative to Elmore James' "The Sun Is Shining" if there ever was one). This track and "Here I Go Again" were later revamped and re-recorded on their 1987 blockbuster album "Whitesnake". On this Live in Rio 1985 we can enjoy an awesome John Sykes solo, who was hired by Coverdale in 1984, after firing the former guitarist Micky Moody.

211 - Whitesnake Ready An' Willing 1980

David Coverdale's blues metal machine Whitesnake seemed rudderless as the new decade creaked open. Metal was coming back big, but then again, this was not a metal band. But if metal wasn't yet in the cards, it was time to get classic. Aiding and abetting that cause was the acquisition of light Deep Purple touch Ian Paice to the fold, the band now including three ex-Purple partners (Paice, Lord, and Coverdale) amongst a total army of six Snakes. David Coverdale reiterates the importance of Ian Paice to the band. "Ready An' Willing... I'll tell you exactly what happened there. Paicey was involved, the drummer, and that was the first time the band really started to sound like it did in my head. The rhythm section was distinctly shaky before that. Whitesnake was always a live entity, so the songs would translate not very good on record, but it was a great live show. That was the strength of it. But Ready An' Willing was the first time I started to get it right. And I put a great deal of the onus on the fact that Ian Paice had joined. Because he is a very secure, very dynamic and very powerful drummer. I think the first half of the album is the beginning of what it should have sounded like.

125 - Whitesnake Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City 1978

Whitesnake are an English hard rock band, founded in 1977 by David Coverdale (formerly of Deep Purple). They were active primarily in the 1980s, but still tour, albeit with an entirely new line-up (bar Coverdale and Aldridge), to this day, as they have released a double live album entitled, "Live: In The Shadow Of The Blues", on November 27, 2006. It was made up of recordings from tours since the reformation in 2003. It also included four new studio tracks.
The song "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" appears in the first album by Whitesnake, originally performed by Bobby Bland. Although it is now considered a classic Whitesnake song, according to Coverdale it wasn't planned that way: "Originally I had no plans to actually record ‘Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City’…if you can you believe it…a song that connects so deeply with so many that I still play it today, 25 years later.

37- Whitesnake Still of the Night 1987

Whitesnake, 1987 album by the British rock band of the same name (Whitesnake) was a major crossover hit, eventually selling over eight million copies (and thus going eight times platinum). It was the eighth studio release from the band. After the album was recorded, lead singer David Coverdale fired the band members who had played on the recordings: John Sykes (guitar), who went on to found Blue Murder; Neil Murray (bass); and Aynsley Dunbar (drums). Adrian Vandenberg, who played on the solo to "Here I Go Again," joined the band on a full-time basis after the other members were gone.
The videos for "Still Of The Night","Here I Go Again", "Is This Love" and "Give Me All Your Love", apart of David Coverdale himself, features the touring line-up of Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldrige though they never took part on the recordings except for Vandenberg on the solo for "Here I Go Again".
The Led Zeppelin-influenced "Still of the Night" may be the best track.
