1257 - King Diamond The Family Ghost 1987

Mr. Diamond recruited Michael Denner and Timi Hansen from FATE and brought them over along with new folk Mikkey Dee and Andy La Roque and made an impact with the second release "Abigail". Mikkey's drum slamming of the highest order isn't ignored and Andy's style of guitar frenzy on tracks like "Arrival" and "The Family Ghost" are amazing.

1190 - King Diamond The Invisible Guests 1988

After leaving Mercyful Fate due to creative differences, King Diamond (a.k.a Kim Bendix Petersen) embarked on his self-titled solo project. Following his debut album "Fatal Portrait", he released his magnum opus "Abigail", which further elaborated on the path he had forged on the previous album. Developing concept horror stories into heavy metal albums, King Diamond delivers a memorable listening experience with each album. "Them" is King Diamond's third album., including this amazing song.

950 - King Diamond Arrival 1987

A small and creepy intro, driven by some keyboard lines, leads us to “Arrival”, one of the best songs of "Abigail".
Andy’s awesome guitar riffage gives an powerful touch to this classic. The music pauses for a while and then you hear “That must be it!”, followed by some serious speed metal.

825 - King Diamond A Mansion In Darkness 1987

Widely recognized as King Diamond's solo masterpiece, Abigail is also unquestionably one of heavy metal's greatest concept albums. A passion for dark-themed theatrics had always qualified the work of the man formerly known as Kim Bendix Petersen before this release, and yet his band's debut from two years prior had merely hinted at the conceptual ambitions yet to come. One of the best songs is the stunning "A mansion in darkness".

477 - King Diamond Welcome Home 1988

After creating one of the greatest metal albums of all time, King Diamond returns with Michael Denner out of the band and replaced by Pete Blakk. "Them" is another concept album, this time about a house, a crazy grandmother, otherworldly spirits, and tea. The solos by Andy LaRocque and Pete Blakk are actually the best part of the album. The riffs aren't as thrashy as "Abigail," but more technical. "Welcome Home" is a major King Diamond classic. This tune opens up with a good drum beating from Mikkey Dee as he leads the song into a chaotic, metal frenzy.

95 - King Diamond Abigail 1987

This album holds truly holds its own to the early Mercyful Fate classics “Melissa” and “Don’t Break the Oath” and even manages to sound distinctly different from those two metal milestones. King Diamond’s voice is for the most part falsetto throughout the whole recording, but if you’re familiar with Mercyful Fate or King Diamond, this should not really be a problem, and Andy LaRocque, one of the best metal guitarists due to his insane shredding/soloing skills along with the super tight speed metal riffs. Synths are used on the song “Abigail”, and they add a very eerie atmosphere to close the excellent song out.
