1577 - Leño Maneras de Vivir 1981

Leño were a Spanish hard rock band created in 1978 in Madrid. They are considered pioneers of hard rock in Spain, The band members were Rosendo Mercado as guitarist and vocalist, Chiqui Mariscal as bassist and Ramiro Penas on drums. When they started to record their first album Leño, Chiqui Mariscal left the band and Tony Urbano entry as the new bassist in order to complete the recording. This line up would continue until their break-up in 1983 at their peak of popularity. In 1981 they recorded in the Carolina club the "En directo" live disc. The disc was very well sold, even though the recording quality was not very good. This disc includes one of Rosendo's best-known songs, "Maneras de vivir", released also as a single.

1537 - Leño La Fina 1982

In 1982 Leño travelled to London with their expectations pointing to overseas market and looking for a sound study that finally does justice to them. We are facing a powerful sound and a very successful ending equalization, resulting in the best sounding album of the band, not only by their subjects but also by the way it was arranged. Compositions like the bluesrock bar "La Fina" shows the band have more lubricated gears than ever before.

595 - Leño Este Madrid 1979

Leño was an urban rock from Madrid. Formed in 1978 by Rosendo Mercado, Ramiro Penas and Chiki Mariscal. Their lyrics has to do with everyday problems, powerful guitars and feeling in this "Este Madrid", a song from their first album.

459 - Leño ¡Qué desilusión! 1982

Rosendo Mercado was born in a working class district in Madrid, Carabanchel. He was the frontman of Leño, the urban rock band from Madrid, before deciding to continue his solo career . They made really good songs and authentic rock, such as this "¡Qué desilusión!", recorded on their forth and last album "¡Corre,corre!".

267 - Leño Sorprendente 1982

Leño is a prominent exponent of the so-called urban rock in Spain. Rosendo Mercado was the main composer of the band before deciding to leave the band and begin his own career. After finishing the compulsory military service in 1975, he took part in the recording of the first album of Ñu. Molina and he were not in very good terms, so Rosendo left the group in 1977, and formed Leño, playing the guitar and singing. Chiqui Mariscal (bass player) and Ramiro Penas (drums) also leave Ñu to join him in Leño. They made their debut in 1978, as supporting band in a concert of Asfalto. They had been hired by Vicente Romero (producer), who was setting up Chapa Discos, and published the collective disc "Viva el Rollo, Vol. II. Rock del Manzanares", including two songs of the band: "Este Madrid" and "Aprendiendo a escuchar". In 1979 they published their first disc, by the title "Leño". The last official disc of Leño, "¡Corre, corre!", was made with more resources, thanks to the success of their previous one "En directo". It was recorded in London, with the production of Carlos Narea. Notable songs include "Sorprendente" and "¡Qué desilusión!".
