1504 - Megadeth Angry Again 1993

"Angry Again" was written by Dave Mustaine, exclusively for inclusion in the 1993 satirical action film "Last Action Hero", directed by John McTiernan. "Angry Again" never appeared on any of the band's official studio albums, but appeared first on their 1995 EP "Hidden Treasures" and several later compilations. Dave Mustaine wrote the song in one day, while half asleep listening to the melody of "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash, and "Angry Again" was initially recorded during the Countdown to Extinction tour but wasn't actually featured on the album. When Dave wrote the song, he was angry with his band, promoters, and a lot of different parts of the organization, and continued having some problems with drugs again. The culmination of his stress problems inspired him to write the song. According to Dave Mustaine himself, he wrote the song during a spur of the moment; "I wrote 'Angry Again' right after I got out of a treatment center in Arizona. They had done one of those happy little 1990s interventions where everybody who's not loaded gets to point the finger at everyone who is. And the day I got out of rehab, they threw me into a studio in Phoenix."

1326 - Megadeth Head Crusher 2009

On "EndGame", Mustaine recorded the new songs with a totally new lineup, including Chris Broderick at lead, it's hasn't sounded this good since "Rust In Peace". Shaun Drover is a high quality drummer, and James LoMenzo was also new on the bass, but he'd had his share of experience, playing with other big bands, like Iced Earth. "Head Crusher" speaks for itself and was nominated for a Grammy for best metal performance. It starts off with a fast mini solo then instantly goes into an angry rant of death and destruction.

1172 - Megadeth Set The World Afire 1988

The first riff of the mighty ‘Set the World Afire’ prepares the stage for one of Megadeth´ s best songs. The splendid instrumental composition fits very well the lyrics, talking about the end of the world. It has some different sections which building superbly a great Thrash metal hymn.

1075 - Megadeth Endgame 2009

Megadeth´s "Endgame" cements the legendary thrash band’s current relevancy. 'Endgame' finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in.

727 - Megadeth Trust 1997

1997's "Cryptic Writings" marked another commercially successful album for Megadeth. The album opens with "Trust", which includes a magnificent acoustic bridge. The song tells the story of relationships that have failed due to mutual dishonesty.

495 - Megadeth Symphony of Destruction 1992

Released in 1992 "Countdown to Extinction" is Megadeth's 5th album. Also, it is their second with guitarist Marty Freidman and drumer Nick Menza. As you all might have realised Marty Friedman slightly altered Megadeths sound although Dave Mustaine wrote most of the songs. The lead parts became more technical and melodic. This album though, has a much different sound than any of its predecesors. Megadeths thrash/speed metal sound seems to have slightly dissipated. "Symphony of Destruction" is one of Megadeths most famous songs. The main riff is catchy and simple yet it sounds thrashier than most other riffs on the album.

355 - Megadeth Liar 1988

Mustaine for all his private life issues was a prodigiously talented musician and songwriter. This came to the front on 1988's "So Far" album. Always more political, sarcastic and antagonistic than Metallica Megadeth dealt with real life issues such as Mustaine's all consuming drug addiction, his lack of love for the American judicial system and his own view points on war in Northern Ireland and the Middle East. Then with "Liar" and "Hook In Mouth" we get to hear Mustaine in full vitriolic fervour as he devours and lambastes both himself and US democracy.

269 - Megadeth À Tout le Monde 1994

"A Tout le Monde" is the fourth song on Megadeth's 1994 album "Youthanasia". Beginning with a melancholy acoustic rhythm and Dave Mustaine's softly spoken vocals, the subject of the song ponders a life that, for whatever reason has clearly approached the end. Kimveer Gill, the man behind the Dawson College shooting in September 2006 was a fan of the band and stated in his blog on VampireFreaks.com that this song helped convince him to perform the attack. In a performance in Montreal on September 27, shortly after the attack, Dave Mustaine said to the crowd: "The guy who went to Dawson College and shot everyone, it's terrible. Aside from the fact that what he did was wrong, we have a relationship with Montreal, and that really pissed us off." Before the concert in an interview for CBC News Mustaine said: "I was so angry that this guy would use my song, and that he would try and turn that beautiful song into something ugly and nasty. It's for those who lost their lives, and it's a gift to those who are in the process of healing." He also said that Gill was "not worthy of being a Megadeth fan."
A new, faster version of "À Tout le Monde" is included on Megadeth's latest album, "United Abominations". It is sung as a duet along with Cristina Scabbia, singer of the Italian Metal/Rock band Lacuna Coil. The song is played in standard tuning on the guitars and bass, whereas the original version is played with all guitars tuned down a half step.

152 - Megadeth Wake up Dead 1986

For Megadeth's second LP, Mustaine fleshed-out the band's sound somewhat and gave the songs a more epic feel. The resulting album, "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying" became an instant metal classic and put the band on the map. "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying" kicks off with a flurry of drums and guitars as Dave Mustaine growls "I sneak in my own house". "Wake Up Dead" is a classic song, and it lets the listener know immediately what this album is going to be all about: guitars and savage beats. The song is basically an instrumental with a few lyrics (about the fear of being caught cheating) thrown in for good measure. The 5.1 mix sounds great, as the guitar solos are spread around the speakers in a very interesting fashion.

78 - Megadeth Holy Wars ...The Punishment Due 1990

Back in the eighties, Dave Mustaine was a young angry man who wanted to play faster than his idols so one day he auditioned for a small local band to jam with. This band was no other than Metallica. Dave Mustaine was later kicked out for kicking James Hetfield's dog, Dave pleaded to get back in and he got his second chance but it ran dry quite quick and Dave was kicked out again for his violent behaviour due to excess drug abuse. He sworn to get revenge on them and set out to get his own band, he pulled in a newbie bassist and two jazz players called Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland, Dave being a crazy guy made two albums with them and they got chucked out. Dave brought in two new players by the names of Chuck Behler and Jeff Young, that was probably Megadeth´s weakest line-up. After that period, Dave sobered up and gathered Nick Menza and Marty friedman into the band, they were at their peak with Rust In Peace. "Holy Wars? The Punishment Due" starts off with a cool classical guitar bit from Marty and then Dave uses some of his angriest vocals yet. And then who could forget the hand-bleeding solos that the guitar duo of Marty and Dave pull off? Marty is the technical type of played while Dave jams lots of notes together to create this superb sound.

29 - Megadeth Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? 1986

After leaving Metallica in 1983, Dave Mustaine founded his own band Megadeth and two years later, he released the killing debut "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good". The album had unfortunately a thin production, but it could convice with its music. The second record "Peace Sells…But Who's Buying", which was/is a milestone in Speed/Thrash Metal. The guitars pack a fairly powerful punch, letting the aggression of each riff and lead hit your ears with tasteful ferocity, yet keeping a slight melodic tone to show off the virtuosity. The basslines are very prominent in the mix. Dave's riffs are very complex, something noticeable about his guitarplaying is the heavy amount of New Wave of British Heavy Metal influence in his riffs and solos, particularly Iron Maiden. The best song written in Megadeth history is this one. Starting with a superb bass intro, it evolves into a really badass midtempo pounder with excellent catchy lyrics.
