1649 - Scorpions Dynamite 1982

In founding guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions had a bona fide master at creating hooks from simple power chords. And perhaps no other Scorpions song exemplifies this talent more conclusively — and irresistibly — than ‘Blackout’s’ take-no-prisoners centerpiece, ‘Dynamite,’ which grew into a natural concert-closing encore for years to come.

1447 - Scorpions Fly To The Rainbow 1974

"Fly to the Rainbow", the song, is a masterpiece. The acoustic intro is somewhat complex, the drums are quite aggressive and energetic, the twin guitars harmonies sound very good, the keyboards just seep in gently to add atmospheric elements while remaining barely noticeable, and the vocals are superb, not to mention the solos and gentle violin-like guitar during the quiet part. Written by an ex-member (Michael Schenker) and a new member (Roth). Schenker would be replaced on lead by Ulrich Roth. Roth would remain with the band for about four years. Michael Schenker’s brother Rudolph, a founding member, plays rhythm guitar with the band to this day. It is a three part song.

1399 - Scorpions Virgin Killer 1976

"Virgin Killer" is the fourth studio album by the German heavy metal band Scorpions. It was released in 1976 and was the first album of the band to attract attention outside Europe. The title is described as being a reference to time as the killer of innocence. The original cover featured a nude prepubescent girl, which stirred controversy in the UK, U.S. and elsewhere. As a result, the album was re-issued with a different cover in some countries. The title track is just as riveting as the album cover. The introduction screeches into play like a panther screeching on a hot summer day, and then it rolls into a fierce storm of a radio worthy rock epic.

1017 - Scorpions Always Somewhere 1979

Following the addition of Matthias Jabs, Scorpions left RCA for Mercury Records to record their next album, "Lovedrive". Just weeks after being evicted from UFO for his alcohol abuse, Michael Schenker also returned to the group for a short period during the recordings for the album. This gave the band three guitarists (though Schenker's contribution to the final release was limited to only three songs). The result was "Lovedrive", an album which some critics consider to be the pinnacle of their career, containing such fan favorites as this incredible "Always Somewhere".
Schenker, coping with drugs and alcohol addiction, missed tour dates repeatedly, with Jabs returning to fill in for him on nights when he was absent. Michael eventually would leave the band a second time after realizing that he was failing to meet their expectations, resulting in Jabs being reinstated once again as the full time replacement for Roth.

"Lovedrive" starts off with "Loving You Sunday Morning", an uptempo melodic rock standout, purely Scorpions. With catchy, excellent choruses, and Meine´s powerful vocals, you'll be hooked on the power of these German Rock Gods.

456 - Scorpions He’s a Woman, She’s a Man 1977

The 70´s is an often unheralded period in light of the commercial success Scorpions achieve in the following decade, but it is undoubtedly the era in which they were the most powerful, musically speaking. This is the band they still were for 1977’s "Taken by Force": a band of integrity and musicianship forging a new sound that combined their psychedelic rock roots with the soaring harmony leads and intense riffage of proto-power metal. "Taken by Force" was the last album to feature one Ulrich Roth, the most talented guitar player they’d ever have in their lineup. The classic “He’s a Woman, She’s a Man” has one riff that can’t really be misconstrued as anything but a thrash riff.

"Love at first sting" contains what just may be the band's best ballad ever, the tear-jerking "Still Loving You". One of the most popular rock ballads. Haunting riffing, magnificent vocals, brilliant soloing and good lyrics.

With "Love At First Sting", the Scorpions achieved a level of success most Metal bands only dream of. Powered by the hit single "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and bolstered by solid songs throughout, this record was one of the biggest sellers of 1982. It's still considered one of the band's best efforts.

137 - Scorpions No One Like You 1982

The German rockers the Scorpions have sold over 22-million records, making them one of the most successful rock bands to ever come out of Continental Europe. In 1982 the band released Blackout, which contained the cult hit "No One Like You", a major success worldwide. It is of note that singer Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal chords during the writing of the album and it was uncertain whether he would be able to record it. Demos of the material were recorded with Don Dokken as vocalist, however none of those recordings are featured on the album.

81 - Scorpions Holiday 1979

`Lovedrive', undoubtedly the Scorpions' finest studio moment. From the opening chords of `Loving You Sunday Morning' to the closing notes of `Holiday', this record is sheer hard rock perfection. It's the first work of the definitive Scorpions line-up and it's easily their best. With Uli Jon Roth having moved on to a solo career, the band had lost a gifted guitarist blessed with originality and flair and, for better or worse, their sound would never be the same. However, instead of continuing (and undoubtedly stumbling) along in the same direction, they closed that chapter of their history, brought in a new, more metal-hearted guitarist and redefined their sound. Michael Schenker had left UFO, Michael briefly rejoins the Scorpions and plays on 3 tracks on this album, the rest feature the Scorpions' new guitarist Matthias Jabs. "Holiday" is an exquisite ballad.

28 - Scorpions In Trance 1976

Being perhaps the first major rock music export from Germany, the band labored in relative obscurity for years, seeking both a sound of their own, as well as an audience brave enough to dig these newer, heavier and harder sounds. The band’s first two efforts ("Lonesome Crow" from ’74 and "Fly To he Rainbow" issued in ’75) wallow in the mist of proggy psychedelia, offering few hard moments, and tentative ones even at those rare junctures. But with "In Trance", the guitars take the point position, all begins to come into focus. This cut is another excellent moment, as singer Klaus Meine displays his formidable chops and the band demonstrate an early example of their skill at writing cuts that build slow and reward the listener with instantly memorable slabs of guitar.
