1465 - Gorguts Colored Sands 2013

"Colored Sands" is the fifth full-length album by technical death metal band Gorguts. The album features the band's first recordings with drummer John Longstreth, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel and bassist Colin Marston. Despite Luc Lemay being the only original member and the sole reason the band reunited, the new additions are amazing and everyone seems right at home in the swirling, abrasive murk that this album creates so masterfully. The title track features an opening of a solemn guitar being plucked gently as another slowly joins in with some melodic embrace of quiet riffs. And the song builds quite fantastically.

Gorguts is a technical death metal band from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. After releasing a fantastic debut in the form of "Considered Dead", Gorguts still felt they had something more to prove with their sophomore album. Few could have predicted just how big a step up 1993's "The Erosion Of Sanity" would prove to be, but Gorguts made progress in leaps and bounds. "With Their Flesh He'll Create" ranges from an explosive cycle of grinding and chugging to a few breakdowns, thick bass flying everywhere.
