Produced by Max Norman, who was the metal producer of the time, "Thunder in the East" is terrific from start to finish. "Like Hell" is definitely one of the best Loudness songs ever. Great riffs, and sick leads.

1087 - Loudness King of Pain 2010

Loudness is a Japanese heavy metal band formed in 1981 by guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi. "King of Pain" is the twenty-third studio album, released in 2010 only in Japan. It also marks the full-length debut of drummer Masayuki Suzuki.
Great title track. Japanese metal resistance.

531 - Loudness Heavy Chains 1985

Takasaki's Eddie Van Halen-inspired guitar heroics, Loudness immediately scored local success with their first three albums, which were sung entirely in Japanese. But it wasn't until the release of their first live album, Live-Loud-Alive, and fourth studio effort Disillusion that the group attracted any significant attention outside their homeland, eventually issuing an English version of Disillusion. "Thunder in the East" was originally released in 1985 and reissued in 2003. It contains this classic "Heavy Chains", with a great Takasaki solo and the charismatic vocals of Niihara.

280 - Loudness Angel Dust 1982

The kings of Japanese heavy metal are unquestionably the group Loudness. The band was formed in 1981 from the ashes of Lazy, which had contained guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi. They joined forces with vocalist Minoru Niihara and bassist Masayoshi Yamashita to form one of Japan’s first significant heavy metal bands. Van Halen are frequently cited as one of the bands influences, however more specifically, like Eddie Van Halen, Akira Takasaki blew minds with his incredibly fast, loud, intense guitar playing. The band’s first two albums, "The Birthday Eve" and "Devil Soldier" were produced by a Japanese American from California named Dan McClenden, was playing in and producing local bands at the time, and who also worked with metal princess Carmen Maki. This "Angel Dust" appears on their sophomore work "Devil Soldier".

151 - Loudness Milky Way 1984

Loudness had come a long way by 1984 and, after notching a number of increasingly successful albums in their homeland, their momentum finally carried across the waters. So it was that their fourth effort, Disillusion, which they had originally recorded mostly in Japanese, was recut with English lyrics to make it a tad more appetizing for Western audiences. Whatever the language, Disillusion remains one of Loudness' best works. "Milky Way" and "Butterfly" in particular display a prog rock feel somewhat reminiscent of Rush.

42 - Loudness Crazy Doctor 1984

Loudness is probably Japan's most well-known Metal band. In fact, Loudness would probably appeal to anyone with a taste for classic Heavy Metal in the vein of Iron Maiden et al, what with their galloping riffs, magnificent and wailing vocals. Disillusion is the turning point in Loudness's carreer, after three albums in japanese and a double Live album, Loudness releases the album that will reveal them worlwide. Crazy Doctor" is a unique rocker with innovative guitarwork. It has a classical guitar style riff in the middle.
