364 - Great White Rock me 1987

Great White is an American blues-based Hard Rock band, popular mainly in the late 1980's & early 1990's. Despite their having been at the forefront of musical changes during that period, and having a number of hits, the band's notoriety today is mainly due to their involvement in the 2003 "The Station nightclub fire", which led to the deaths of 100 people in West Warwick, Rhode Island.
Formed in the early '80s by vocalist Jack Russell and guitarist Mark Kendall, Great White were regulars of the L.A. club scene, playing their Led Zeppelin- and AC/DC-influenced metal to a quickly growing fan base. Local radio play and more gigging helped sell 20,000 copies of their independent releases, the "Out of the Night" EP and the full-length "Shot in the Dark", both released in 1983. With their third album, "Once Bitten...", Great White finally perfected their blend of bluesy Aerosmith grind and Van Halen hard rock flamboyance. It all comes to a head on "Rock Me," a minor hit single that brought them to a broader audience.
