Suffocation is placed amongst peers such as Immolation, Mortician and Incantation as being part of a genetic fragment of death metal known as "New York death metal", or "NYDM" for short. They crush our brains with their self titled disc, released in 2006. Opener “Abomination Reborn ” sounds with dense, chromatic chord beatdowns, stop-start cymbal-grabbin’ interludes, and Mike Smith’s trademark convoluted fills and blastbeats.
